Grateful for my rebellious side

Growing up, I never wanted to just fit in for the sake of others, I didn’t want to just follow the crowd and do what they do. My mum would ask me why didn’t I just follow the social norms? I didn’t know how to answer it at the time but I can now. I can honestly say I am so grateful that I have this rebellious side even though I used to roll up my skirt at school or leave school few minutes earlier…..

I am grateful for my rebellious side….because it allowed me to launch Your millennial therapist and it gave me the courage to quit my full time job and be self employed. I may be younger than other therapists but I am ambitious and I have drive. I believe I can offer a relatable therapeutic space for you to share.

I want to try new things and fail and learn from my mistakes. Because the idea of trying and failing and learning through trial and error and the wisdom that comes from it is priceless. It’s something money can’t buy and something that relies on action.

Last year, I started to understand the challenges of full time work and how draining it can be to your physical and mental health. At the time, I thought it was normal and that it is just something everyone goes through. But I am here to tell you, don’t settle. You do not have to settle at such an early age or time.

Do not settle. Period. Do what you can to craft and own something that is truly your own. Because it is something that is beyond your control. If you do not have the luxury of quitting, then work on it in your spare time. If you do not have support from others, then support yourself. I promise you, you will amaze yourself.

The covid pandemic has taught many of us that job security is not reliable, as many industries were affected by restrictions and lockdown. This is the time for you to create a side hustle or project you are passionate about. It is never too late. Start now, experiment, start with one post, one video, one paragraph. There is no down side, what’s the worst that can happen? Down side is you wasted a bit of time to find out what you like or don’t like. But if you never try, you will never know.

Start now :) Be a little rebellious, be open minded and question the way things are. Don’t just follow the crowd.
