Business and life is a game you must learn to play, or it will play you.

Now that I have finished my ebook, I thought it would be nice to reflect on what I learnt from the process of writing.

Okay, let’s jump straight into it.

10 things I learnt from writing an ebook:

  1. It’s okay to feel two things at once, I felt lost when I launched my ebook but I also felt a strong sense of achievement. I felt lost because I don’t know what comes next after spending months on this project. Let yourself feel both emotions at once, that is what life demands of us sometimes.

  2. Don’t expect it to be perfect, ever. Just get it out into the world and improve on it. The real life feedback you get from launching and publishing gives you ideas on what you can improve on. But you can’t ever improve if you don’t publish, sell, post or launch anything.

Overcome the perfectionist, black and white mindset, it only holds you back from everything in life. Action gives you momentum. Remember, progress over perfection. Consistency over intensity. That’s my motto in life.

  3. The moment after I launched my ebook online, it felt anticlimactic. It felt like I’ve worked so hard for this moment to feel…more? Learn to go with the flow, celebrate the win, enjoy the moment of glory. The greatest things in life doesn’t come with an audience or a huge celebration, it comes from you putting in the hard work, the reps, the many late nights that have led to a big moment. There are no overnight successes.

  4. Expectations isn’t a reflection of reality. Don’t expect it to sell right away, part of the process is launching it, the next level is marketing, that is the next level game you must learn to play if you want to make it in business and in life. There are different levels you want to get to and to reach to the next level, you need to certain experiences that gives you that specific skillset.

P.S. If you find sales and marketing gross and you think capitalism is the root of all evil then feel free to unsubscribe. I used to think money and capitalism was “bad”, but I was wrong. I have so much respect for people who can write well, speak well and persuade well. Writing, marketing, sales, psychology, persuasion is the greatest skillset any human can learn in this life. Don’t let society trick you into thinking that all sales people are “bad”. Zoom out of your rigid and limiting beliefs and see the bigger picture. Everything in life works together, it’s all interconnected.

  5. Enjoy the process, don’t get too attached to the outcome. You learn the most when you engage in the process of learning to do a particular thing, whatever it may be. Shift your mindset and your perception on overvaluing the end goal, learn to enjoy and appreciate the fact that you got up and learn to do something without being forced to by the educational system or your employer. That in and of itself is valuable as fuck. Part of self development is never stop learning. Period. Life is a continuous journey of learning.

If you only see yourself as worthy after achieving something, you will be stuck in a never ending hell loop of chasing after the next big thing.

    Don’t fall into that trap.

“Stagnation is metaphorical death.” - Dan Koe

“Many people die at 25, they get a job, get a house, get a car and get a spouse then they wait to retire at 65.” - Dan Koe

They laser into the exact picture of “what should be” in life that they never stopped to question if this is truly what they want.

The worst thing that can happen is you wake up at 70 and realize you’ve lost the chance to pursue what you really want in life, start a business, write a book, get into graphic design, be a creative, open a cafe.

I get so excited and happy when I see people starting their own businesses or side hustles.

“There are 7 billion people on earth, one day I hope they will be 7 billion companies” - Naval

Here are your takeaways.

Don’t ever let anyone dim your light.

Don’t ever let anyone tell you what you cannot do.

Don’t ever let anyone tell you you’re not good enough.

Don’t be afraid to claim your place in this world.

Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
