27 lessons I wish I knew earlier (EXCLUSIVE PODCAST)

I turned 27 last weekend and I am definitely wiser.

So here are 27 lessons I have learnt about life, relationships, friendships and failure so far.

This is a compilation of all my previous newsletters into one.

And a deep reflection and articulation of what I learnt in life in the past few years.

The audio provides more context around the 27 lessons I have listed below.

Note: the underlined parts are links to other newsletters & resources that I have written this year if you wish to read further with more context behind my 27 lessons.

****

  1. Thank you 26, for showing me that I can live up to my potential. Thanks for showing me that I don’t have to follow the traditional route and showing me what’s possible on the other side.

  2. Thank you 26, for showing me the benefits of speaking up for myself.

  3. Thank you 26, for showing me what and who is more important to prioritize in life. To the people who chose to standby my side and love me during the hard times, even on days I did not love myself…Thank you❤️

  4. Stop thinking. Stop doubting. Just take action and build momentum from there. Clarity comes with time and action.

  5. Don’t ever compromise who you are to keep someone around.

  6. There is beauty in learning to accept life for what it is and let go.

  7. Clinging on to familiarity and security is not always the better choice. It keeps you in your comfort zone. It recreates the same mental pattern that’s keeping you stuck.

  8. Learn to love, accept, own & appreciate yourself. The sooner the better.

  9. How you feel about someone is different to how they make you feel.

  10. Focus on the reality of the situation and people’s actions rather their words.

  11. Life is full of conflicting truths. Everything is context dependent. Every advice has context. Learn to filter them with an open mind. You don’t have to treat it as the absolute truth.

  12. Attention and focus is the currency of the modern century. Social media like instagram and tiktok has made our attention span shorter than ever. Everything comes with a hidden cost, everything has a price. The price you pay for instantaneous mindless scrolling, is you and your attention. Zoom out of that, the price the whole generation pays is impatience.

  13. Rock bottom, pain, heartbreak, loss will teach you more than success ever will.

  14. You don’t own anyone anything, period. You don’t have to say yes. You don’t have to reply to messages right away. You owe it to yourself to be your best cheerleader.

  15. The only permanent thing in life is impermanence.

  16. The people who chose to stand by you, love you, support you are there because they want to be, not because they have to be. If you have people in your life who have shown you that consistentcy, consider it an honor.

  17. The more you try to control life, the more you try to wish for it to be a certain way, the more pain and misery you cause yourself.

  18. Our expectations, assumptions are poisonous if you are not conscious of how it bleeds into your relationships, communication, your thoughts and behavior.

  19. We are all on our OWN timeline. Just because you have different values and perception of life, doesn't mean you're wrong. If anything, be proud of it. See your differences as a gift of perspective, not as a trauma.

  20. The ability to be curious and question everything is a gift.

  21. Give yourself permission.

  22. There is a beauty of clarity and uncertainty.

  23. Everything is a double edged sword, if you have to little or too much of something, it can destroy you.

  24. If you don’t dedicate time to understanding yourself and your mental patterns, you will be a slave to your conditioning forever.

  25. Sometimes doing less is better. Work smart, don’t work hard.

  26. Sometimes, things are better left unsaid. Because once you open pandora’s box, you are burdened with the truth (and or knowledge).

  27. Stop waiting for a sign. Stop waiting for someone to come to your rescue. Stop wishing for life to be better and easier. You are your own answer.
